Child Advocate Program Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Child Advocate Program Coordinator (CAPC) is responsible for providing for the needs of the children residing at Genesis. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to the following; educational, mental and emotional well being, physical health and other supportive services that are identified and specific to the individual child. CAPC will also be available to provide care for children during adult support group, case management meetings and other appointments that require the attendance of the mother. Employee is also responsible to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, accountability and integrity by adhering to and modeling the behaviors of the Good Samaritan of the Ozarks Employee Code of Ethics as well as demonstrated speech and action as defined by the agency mission statement. This is a full time, hourly paid position.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

*Identify the needs of residential children residing in Genesis. This will be accomplished by meeting with the mother and staff counselor.
*Research available services in the local and surrounding area that is specific to children who have witnessed or been victims of trauma.
*Schedule services that have been identified to meet the goal plan of each child. This will be done in conjunction with the child’s mother and the case management team.
*Facilitate children’s support group as directed by the staff counselor.
*Provide any childcare services as necessary to meet the needs of the residents of the Genesis program.
*Provide transportation services as needed

Qualifications for Entry:

*A high degree of confidentiality and discretion
*Minimum education level of an associates degree
*Ability to work with children of different ages, challenges and temperaments
*Understanding of poverty, intimate partner violence and oppression of the underserved
*Understanding of trauma informed care and the impact of trauma on individuals
*The ability to work with people of various backgrounds
*Knowledge in computer and clerical procedures
*Knowledge of basic office equipment
*Flexibility to an ever changing environment
*Ability to communicate both orally and written in a clear and concise manner
*Must be detailed in reporting and have a good sense of time management
*A willingness to travel to meetings and conferences
*Display a willingness to learn and develop new skills
*Valid state driver’s license with an excellent driving record
