Ruth was born in Fulton, Missouri to a Christian family who gave her a strong foundation for the rest of her life journey and instilled in her the obligation to serve others. She has been married to Judge Douglas Long, a native of Pulaski County, for 53 years. They have four children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Her teaching career began in San Juan, Puerto Rico and ended in 1999 in the Waynesville RVI District. She loves children and teaching was a rewarding career.
Retirement has given her many opportunities to serve the Lord. She worked many hours in her church and was a part of the Good Samaritan ministry prior to becoming a board member. She is Co-Chair of the Pulaski County Community Network, a coalition of organizations serving residents of Pulaski County: she is a member of the Board of Directors of MOCA. She also coordinates the Richland Back to School Fair for the Richland Ministerial Alliance.
“I live by my belief that serving others is my way of serving my Lord and it brings me great joy.”
